Solar Talks Team: Priya, our Head of People

Solar Talks Team is our way of celebrating the amazing people that make Naked Energy and drive what we do. For this first episode of Solar Talks Team it’s only fitting to start with our Head of People, Priya.

“Each person shapes our company’s culture and they drive us to continually improve in all that we do. The mix of creativity and engineering is inspiring.”

Hi Priya, what is your role, and how long have you been at Naked Energy?

As Head of People I am helping to build the team and culture, develop our people strategy, manage HR and support the company to live the values of the business. I joined Naked Energy in May 2020.

What attracted you to taking on the role of Head of People?

I’m oriented towards people and like the variety in the role – from building a great team, to performance development, culture and well-being. I believe the effectiveness of any endeavour is greatly impacted by the time you invest in building trust, connection and the foundations to help people flourish. There are many measurable outputs but a lot of what’s involved is intangible and I am more than ok with that.

What’s your background and career history?

My background is varied. I worked in a range of roles at PwC, Goldman Sachs and an investment consultancy before venturing into the start-up world as part of an energy efficiency financing company. I have continued to spread my wings and am now very happy in the People role.

What brought you to the energy sector?

The time working with some inspiring engineers spent in the energy efficiency financing start-up and a growing understanding of how critical it is to address climate change and other issues arising from how we consume energy.

What do you enjoy most about working at Naked Energy?

The people. The team is talented, kind and driven by the company’s mission - to change energy for good. It’s a joy to work with them in this endeavour. Each person shapes our company’s culture and they drive us to continually improve in all that we do. The mix of creativity and engineering is inspiring.

Which aspect of the energy transition are you most fascinated by?

The innovation and problem solving involved in changing government policies, business models, finance and technology to overhaul the global energy system.

What’s been your favourite moment at Naked Energy so far?

Seeing our products installed on our largest project so far on an iconic London building, one in which I’ve spent a lot of time.
